K-12

Hands-on learning for students

In-A-Box and On-The-Go Curriculum Boxes

Teachers, presenters, and group leaders who work with students in grades K-12 (specifically grades 4-8) can explore aspects of scientific careers, the body, and the environment through these self-contained “Exploration in Science and Health” kits from the In-A-Box and On-The-Go Program at Yankton Rural AHEC. Customize learning activities to your age group with In-A-Box’s unique combination of resources.
YRAHEC has 8 boxes available: Bones & Muscles, Brain, Ear, Eye, Guts, Heart, Lungs, and Mouth. Each box has models, activity stations, books, DVDs, teacher handbooks, games, posters, and more.

(The “In-A-Box” curricula was developed by the Oregon AHEC. The “On-The-Go” curricula was developed by the Northeast SD AHEC.)

Glo-Germ and Monster Mouth

This kit is perfect to teach students of all ages the importance of proper hand hygiene and how germs can easily be spread from person to person, person to inanimate objects, or inanimate objects to person. The kit includes a lotion and powder that mimics germs, a UV light to show the “germs”, various inanimate objects, and a Monster Mouth box that helps black out lighting.

  • To inquire about availability of any of these resources, please email info@yrahec.org
